Best Wireless Mouse 2019

A mouse is probably the most used computer peripheral so it is worth choosing one that suits your needs and the advantage of a wireless mouse is that you aren’t tethered to your computer and you won’t get tangled up with a cord.

Some wireless mice come with charging docks so you don’t have to worry about replacing batteries, although of course you do still need to remember to put the mouse in the dock or station. Other mice feature an on/off switch to preserve power, again this can be useful as long as you remember to switch it off when you’ve finished using it.

With a wireless mouse comes a wireless receiver, and the smallest of these are called nano receivers and sit flush with the USB port. Typically nano receivers are slightly more expensive, but it might be your best buy if you’re a frequent traveler as ordinary receivers can sit proud of the USB port which may be an issue if you are frequently taking your laptop in and out of a bag, for example.

Mice operate by tracking in “dots per inch” (or dpi) and an optical mouse can track between 400 and 800 dpi while a laser mouse can generally track more than 2,000 dpi. but a higher dpi number isn’t necessarily a good thing and while gamers and graphic designers might need high sensitivitys and everday user does not typically need such precise tracking and will be just fine with an optical mouse.

Perhaps the most crucial aspect of a wireless mouse is its comfort. Mouse ergonomics are important because they can help prevent repetitive stress injuries, but ergonomics is not a one-size-fits-all feature. Graphic designers, gamers, and other long-term users, should stick with what’s comfortable, not what’s pretty, while less intensive users can let aesthetics weigh more heavily when deciding which mouse to buy.
